Mansfield is making plans to welcome a new arts and crafts store to Town.
The Mansfield Planning and Zoning Commission recently approved a special permit application from Eastbrook F, LLC to expand East Brook Mall to make way for a Michaels at 95 Storrs Road.
The proposed project will consist of a 14,528-square-foot addition to the existing mall structure.
An additional 3,200-square-foot freestanding building was scrapped from the plans before approval, due to the need for more information on the “potential adverse wetlands impacts” it could have created, according to documents filed with the P&Z Commission.
Michaels, the “largest specialty retailer of arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall décor and seasonal merchandise,” according to its Web site, currently operates at 14 stores in Connecticut.
East Brook Mall was last renovated in 2005, when the addition of Kohl’s Department Store was approved.
A construction timeline and/or date of completion for Michaels has yet to be established.
