E.O. Smith Field Hockey Opens With Loss

It was a tight battle with Somers, but the Panthers could not pull out a win.

The field hockey team dropped its season home opener with a 2-1 loss to Somers High School Wednesday.

The score was tied at the half, but the Spartans were able to put in the winner in the second half.

For E.O. Smith, Shannon Bailey scored the lone goal.

For Somers, Kristen Steidler had a goal and Kayla Renaud had a goal and an assist.

Danielle Wrubel made two for E.O. Smith and Jenna Jablonski made four saves for Somers.

E.O. Smith travels to Newington on Saturday.
