E.O. Smith Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Extended Solar Panel Program

The high school held a dedication ceremony for the school's newest energy efficient solar panels.

Mansfield just got a little bit greener.

On Thursday, the Town celebrated the installation of additional solar panels at .

The new 4-kilowatt (kW) solar photovoltaic (PV), the second earned solar PV system to be installed at the high school, is part of a community-wide effort to reduce the Town's energy use. E.O. Smith was awarded three 1 kW photovoltaic panels through the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) in 2008.

“The Town of Mansfield is excited about receiving the second solar array and we would like to thank our residents, our energy education team and the EOS Cool-It Team for making this happen,” said Town Manager Matthew Hart in a statement released by CCEF.

The , , Eagleville Fire Department operated Station 107, Mansfield Volunteer Fire Co. controlled Station 307 and the round out the list of six buildings in Town using on-site renewable energy.

“I am proud to be mayor of a town that is so committed to clean energy solutions and use,” said Mayor Betsy Paterson in a statement released by CCEF.
