The is teaming up with the American Red Cross for its annual Blood Drive challenge against Syracuse.
Donations have been coming in throughout the week, but there's still time to get in on the action.
Those who make an appointment will be able to play with iPads, Photobooth and more as they wait for their chance to donate and help UConn beat 'Cuse!
You must be 17-years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health in order to donate.
All blood types are needed. Those with type O-negative blood are urged to make an appointment, as it is considered to be the "universal donor" type.
Just one donation can help save up to three lives, so grab a friend and go make a difference.
Here are some tips for a successful donation courtesy of the American Red Cross:
- Maintain a healthy iron level in your diet
- Hydrate – drink an extra 16 oz of liquid before and after your donation
- Have a healthy meal before your donation – avoid foods high in fat just prior to donation
- Remember to bring your ID!
To schedule an appointment to donate, call the Connecticut chapter of the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit their Web site. Walk-ins are welcome.
