member Min Lin left the Town’s BOE with a fond farewell from her fellow board members Thursday evening.
After serving on the board for six years, Lin decided not to run for reelection on Nov. 8.
“Min Lin has truly been a valuable part of the Mansfield Board of Education for the last six years,” BOE Chairman Mark LaPlaca said Thursday night.
“She brought a unique perspective to the discussions around world languages and the middle school’s exchange program with our sister school in China. “
LaPlaca added that Lin’s experience with finance was also a valuable asset to the board during budget season.
“She will be missed greatly by the board,” he said.
Lin was honored for her service to the community with a plaque that read:
There is perhaps no nobler endeavor than volunteering time and talent to your community. The board of education and the citizens of the Town of Mansfield Connecticut extend their gratitude to Min Lin for six years of service as a member of the Mansfield Board of Education 2005-2011.
“It has been a great honor to serve on the board and work with every one of you,” Lin said as the meeting came to a close.
“I just can not say how grateful and happy I am to have had this opportunity.”
