JOSHUA'S TRUST OPEN HOUSE

Mansfield:  Open House at the historic Eagleville Schoolhouse, 1:00-3:00 p.m., located at the intersection of South Eagleville Rd. and Rt. 32 in Mansfield.  Light refreshments.  The history of the schoolhouse dates to 1832, when the first teacher was hired for $10 to teach an 8-week term.  The building was restored several years ago, preserving its original features.  The building now houses offices for Joshua’s Tract Conservation and Historic Trust, which protects over 4,000 acres of open space in the greater Windham area.  There are well-maintained trails on many of its preserves.

Joshua’s Tract Walk Book, a 310-page book describing walks in the greater Windham area, will be given free to anyone joining the conservation group as a new member. The Walk Book sells in stores for $15.  Membership levels in the Trust begin at $20.  Membership forms and Walk Books are available at several locations, including the Town Clerk’s offices in most towns, Mansfield Community Center, the Altnaveigh Inn & Restaurant, Mansfield Supply, The Homestead on the Tolland Green, & the Audubon Nature Center in Pomfret.   For more information about this offer and Joshua’s Trust, go to www.joshuaslandtrust.org or stop by the Joshua’s Trust office, open on Thursdays 1:30-3:30 and Saturdays in October from 1:00-3:00.
