Tolland County 4-H Fair Kicks Off Today

Come celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of 4-H members at the 70th annual Tolland County 4-H fair, which runs from August 10-13 at the fairgrounds, located on Route 30 near the Tolland and Vernon town line.

The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The events will include:

Friday, August 10

• 10 a.m. Poultry Breed/Showmanship, Llama Breed/Showmanship, Working Steer Fitting and Showing, Small Gas Engine
• 11 a.m. Dairy Breed/Showmanship
• 12 p.m. Homemaker of the Year
• 12:30 p.m. Smart Shopper
• 1 p.m. Sheep Breed/Showmanship
• 2 p.m. Lawn Tractor Obstacle Course
• 4 p.m. Swine Breed/Showmanship
• 5 p.m. Rabbit Breed
• 6:30 p.m. Borrowing Class, Frog Jumping Contest
• 8 p.m. Swine Obstacle Course

Saturday, August 11

• 9 a.m. Rabbit Showmanship, Beef Breed/Showmanship, Dog Show (all day)
• 10 a.m. Lawn Tractor Pulls, Goat Breed/Showmanship, K-9 Demonstration
• 11 a.m. Magician
• 12 p.m. Oxen Demonstration
• 1 p.m. Goats - Pet Packing/Market, Magician
• 2 p.m. K-9 Demonstration
• 3 p.m. Magician
• 4 p.m. Chicken BBQ (until 7 p.m.)
• 5 p.m. Stone Canyon - live country music
• 7 p.m. 4-H Junior Olympics
• 8 p.m. 4-H Senior Olympics

Sunday, August 12

• 9 a.m. Rabbit Hopping
• 10:30 a.m. Goat Obstacle Course- sheep to follow
• 11 a.m. Horizon Rapture
• 12 p.m. Costume Class
• 1 p.m. Premiere Showmanship
• 2:30 p.m. Parade of Champions
• 3 p.m. Close

Admission costs $8 per car and $5 for walk-ins. A weekend pass to the fair is $15.
