I definitely think they should be able to opt out. I had to do dissections in high school, and…Read More hated every minute of it. I did not go into any profession that would have made what I learned through them useful. Given a real choice, I wouldn't have taken part. With computer simulations now, there is no reason or need to put unwilling kids through it, or kill more animals to be used as lab experiments for disinterested students.

I don't care how they try to justify the change, most of us know that it's all about THE MONEY! The…Read More White Husky that we have all come to love since 2002 is UCONN. This new logo maybe accepted by some, but not me! It's more likely to be seen as a Wolf than a Siberian Husky! That's how people will see it! Instead of asking players, many of whom are only in a uniform for a couple of years, they should have asked the opinions of many of UCONN's loyal followers, alumni, and others. This emblem on a jersey is not going to make a bad basketball player any better than his skill level...so, let's not kid ourselves.
I will agree that UCONN had a variety of logos & emblems, but that's what made our school special. It wasn't just one symbol, but many! I'm glad I have plenty of shirts, sweats, jackets, hats, & coats, as well as other items with the Jonathan logo that I love....and now that this new creature has officially been let out of the box I'm sure stores will be discounting their merchandise in order to get rid of it....and I'll be buying up more. The only way this NEW logo will appear on anything I own is if it's given to me.....Maybe, if enough people tell the athletic dept that they don't like this new WOLF-like Siberian Husky, it might cause them to reconsider. NOT!!!! It would take a massive boycott of all products with this new logo on it to even get them to THINK about changing it back!

I agree with Ric. Someone wanted to make some money off of a new copyrighted design THAT WAS NOT…Read More NEEDED! The Jonathan that the UCONN fans, students, alumni, the country, and the world has come to love since 2002 DID NOT need to be changed! Why do schools bow to Sports companies like Nike? MONEY...pure & simple. Education is the last thing on their minds....its MONEY-MONEY-MONEEEE! Nike should take some of it's money and try opening some factories in the inner cities in Connecticut so that these young urban kids can get jobs making the products that many of them wear.
The new logo would be well suited for a school whose mascot was a wolf...because that's what the new logo looks like 'A Wolf', and as far as Geno & Kevin's comments, I'm sure they're being taken care of by Nike so they won't have any harsh words. However, UCONN wins because of it's ferocious style of play, not because of our logo. If fans who hate it banned together and boycotted buying anything with the logo on it, they would eventually change it back! However, I don't you can get enough people to put down their cellphones, turn off their laptops, the cable tv, and other distractions long enough to organize a boycott. Furthermore, UCONN would probably intercede and try to win them over by giving away 'FREE T-Shirts' & 'Caps'. Sad Day in my book!

Simply pitiful in these economic times, seems as if the logo is laughing all the way to the bank !…Read More Imagine the millions that will be spent in the name of "rebranding" for uniforms not only for the athletes but also for the support people who work for the university. Great timing though while the legislature ponders a $1.5 BILLION infusion for STEM. UConn ~~ UConn ~~ U Conned us all !!!
