Marie K. Shanahan, Patch Staff
- Mansfield-Storrs, CT
Marie K. Shanahan joined Patch.com in July 2010 as a Connecticut regional editor. She is currently responsible for hiring, launch, development and management of a dozen local news websites in north central Connecticut.
Prior to Patch.com, Marie worked as deputy online editor of The Hartford Courant. Her interest in the possibilities of interactive communication led her away from an early career as a print newspaper reporter at The Courant to the digital side of news. Marie has spent the last 12 years as an online journalist.
Marie earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and history from the University of Connecticut and a master's degree in Interactive Communications from Quinnipiac University.
When she isn't working at Patch, she's teaching digital news-gathering and storytelling techniques to journalism students as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac. She also serves as a regional judge for the prestigious Livingston Awards for Young Journalists.
Marie is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and Online News Association. She has lived in north central Connecticut all her life and is eager to provide high-quality local news to all her neighbors.
