Happenings Down The Hill: Chocolates, Confections, Gifts, Vintage Clothing In New Main Street Shop

New business in town

Lady Chatelaine's Pieces of the Past and Lady C's Chocolates and Confections is the newest addition to the Main Street Willimantic business scene.  Proprietors Keleigh Shumbo and Lisa Rich, former operators of the Mansfield General Store, have landed with their personable natures and sense of style in a vintage building at 869 Main Street.

Lady Chatelaine's features antiques, flowers, and period clothing, while Lady C's offers hamd-made chocolates.  Store hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Contact either of the sisters at the shop by calling 860-423-1777 or at Facebook by going to The Mansfield General Store's home page.

In answer to some questions that may be asked by students or staff of the University of Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut State University, and / or Quinebaug Valley Community College, as well as other curious people, Willimantic is not just the frog bridge town.  It is one of the four communities that comprise the municipality of Windham.  The four are the villages of Windham Center, North Windham, and South Windham and the city of Willimantic.  Also famous for the phrase “Romantic Willimantic,” Willimantic community members, activists, supporters, and leaders have embraced the euphonious and poetic sound of the phrase and turned it into a celebration of the community.
