Happenings Down The Hill: 08/16 Quilt Artist At Mill Museum
Award-winning quilt artist, Kate Themel, will demonstrate how she creates her unique quilting style at the Windham Textile & History Museum, August 16, 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The event is called “Building A Picture.” Admission is $10 per person.
Themel will present a raw edge layering technique using freezer paper to trace, cut, and layer pieces of fabric into a fiber art composition.
Her art quilt, “Honey Bee,” is featured in the museum's current exhibition, “Inspiration Quilts: Then and Now,” which runs through September 7.
She is a member of Studio Art Quilts Associates, and her work has been juried into international fiber art exhibitions such as Quilt National, Art Quilt Elements, and the Kagoshima Quilt Show in Japan.
